...and things change too.
This is the piece I began yesterday.
The unbelievable thing is that the blue colour you see under the arches was achieved with hollyhock tea. The one I use to usually get pink. This time it got a color as intense as the dyed fabric to the middle left of the piece!
You can also see I'm playing with the small amount of material I have. I use everything at hand and see if I can get contrast and definition with plain techniques.
This is so beautiful. The colours are magic..

That blue is wonderful....maybe the tea was made with a different colour hollyhocks, maybe there was something in the water you used this time? That's the fun of natural dyeing isnt it? You never really know what you are going to get.
I love the intensity of that blue...I will be keeping an eye out for some hollyhock tea.

the darker the hollyhock bloom, the better the colour! I used burgundy ones from my garden in distilled water and got gorgoues purples and blues!
This piece is lovely with the soft hazy colours!

jacky, the funny thing is that I always used the same sachet tea from the supermarket and it can be because of the water from alicante which you cannot drink because it has more chlor as a swimming pool!! perhaps this helps the dye at least!
arlee, I recolted some from a friend before I left Austria but I forgot it there... when I get back I will try it.

susan, it is actually a snake... I have to define the head more now that I dipped it in coffee...
I'm thinking about romanic monsters (the ones you see in the capitals of the columns) and some more are coming later on... :-)
